FAQ
Prophylaxis or prevention in dentistry means to protect the teeth and the gums by thorough mechanical cleaning from diseases such as caries or periodontitis. This includes the daily domestic oral hygiene as well as the professional tooth cleaning at the dentist.
We recommend a professional teeth cleaning at least twice a year. Patients who already have parodontal pre-existing conditions, such as gum pockets or paradontal inflammation, should receive a closer care.
The same applies to patients with larger fixed prostheses or bridges as well as implant patients. Due to regular teeth cleaning, your own teeth remain long healthy and any problems can be detected and treated at an early stage.
We are happy to create an individual prophylaxis concept for you.
Prerequisite for healthy teeth is a balanced teeth-friendly diet. Sugar-containing food damages our teeth by converting acid to acid from bacteria. As a result, the tooth surface is attacked and the formation of caries is favored.
Tooth-friendly diet does not mean a purely sugar-free diet. It is much more important to restrict the frequency of sugary meals. Above all, sweet snacks (snacking) or the enjoyment of sweetened drinks should be avoided to stop the acid attack on the teeth.
